Village libraries including Swanland and North Ferriby could face the axe under plans from county hall
A review by East Riding Council will decide whether to scrap libraries in local villages and have them only in the county’s larger towns.
Lib Dem candidate and campaigner Margaret Corless said: “The council has steadily pared back the hours of our libraries in North Ferriby
and Swanland, to the point where they are now closed most of the week.
“They are now looking at axing them altogether.
“The authority says it has no money - but is wasting £2.25m on private consultants to review its own pay scheme. That money would be better
spent on keeping our libraries open.”
